In 1950, the Council of Europe adopted a Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.But after nine years on Feb. 23, 1959 in Strasbourg, opened the first session of the European Court of Human Rights.The European Court of Human Rights, consisted of forty-six judges.
Each of the judges had a six-year mandate of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.Activities of the High Court to protect human rights in line with the Convention and was highly appreciated by the international community.
Historical change the 1990`s was accompanied by increased flow of appeals to the Court.Dictated by the time the reform of the Court was held in late 1998.This enabled us to improve the performance of the Court.Today, one year out of more than 1000 verdicts. |
